THE STOREY CREATIVE INDUSTRIES CENTRE
The £4m conversion of the Storey Institute, an underused but landmark building adjacent to Lancaster Castle, has created a leading edge centre for the creative industries.Bursting with artistic and creative talent, the new centre features a state of the art 100 seat auditorium, exhibition space and a stylish restaurant and bar with a courtyard, as well as some old favourites like the Storey Gallery. The Storey is now well used for exhibitions, events, films, workshops, talks and live performances. Whilst the new Storey is still a public building, it is also the home of a growing creative industries “hub” and provides offices and workspace to businesses operating within that sector. The Storey acts as a focal point for bringing those people together, and allows networking and collaboration amongst local creative businesses. The capital building works were supported from several sources including the European Union, the City Council, the Arts Council of England North West and the North West Regional Development Agency. |
