RAIL

The main West Coast rail line offers direct services to London and Glasgow from Lancaster and there is also an hourly service to Manchester Airport.

The West Coast Main Line is the UK's busiest mixed traffic railway (responsible for 43% of Britain's UK freight market) and is recognised as a leading European rail artery. Responsible for over 2,000 train movements each day, more than 75 million rail journeys are also made each year on the route. The West Coast Main Line runs from Euston to Glasgow Central.

The £9bn West Coast Route Modernisation programme has improved track quality and increased line speeds up to a maximum of 125mph.

Journey times
Travelling Virgin West Coast from Lancaster you can arrive in London Euston in two and a half hours and in Glasgow in two hours ten minutes. Lancaster to Birmingham is less than two hours. Lancaster to Manchester Airport is one hour twenty minutes.
