Lancaster & Morecambe College
Lancaster & Morecambe College has been providing high quality further education since the 1950s and is a successful
provider of education and training for the local area, offering students job-related training, broad-based education
and recreational activities. Facilities include the £1.5 million Art & Design building opened in 2001 and the £2 million
Community Sports & Coaching Centre opened in 2000.
The College's Learning Centre, which is situated in Morecambe town centre, is a state-of-the-art IT
training facility offering flexible, open learning courses for all levels.
Secondary education
Lancaster & Morecambe's ten secondary schools are a prime asset, with all achieving over the national
target for GCSE results in 2004. Lancaster has two of the UK's top ranking schools - Lancaster Boys' Grammar and Lancaster Girls' Grammar are both in the top twenty.
The Boys' Grammar has an excellent alumni network and includes Kevin Roberts, global boss of
Saatchi (based in New Zealand), who ranks Lancaster as 'one of his five favourite places on the planet'.
